PITTSFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A man from Pittsfield is a winner in the Massachusetts Lottery’s “50X Cash” instant ticket game. According to the Massachusetts Lottery website, Shorn Victor, a mechanic from Pittsfield, has claimed a $1 million prize (before taxes) in the Lottery’s “50X Cash” instant ticket game on August 24th. Victor chose the cash option on his prize and received a one-time payment of $650,000 (before taxes). He plans to use his winnings to buy a house.The winning ticket was sold at Costanzo’s Package & Variety located at 180 Onota Street in Pittsfield. The store clerk told Victor that a big winner was recently purchased from dispenser #34. TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The man accused in a fatal stabbing in Troy was also arrested by U.S. Border Patrol Agents earlier this year. Get the latest news, weather, sports and more delivered right to your inbox! 20-year-old Carlos Corrales-Ramirez was arrested Sept. 3 and charged in connection with the fatal stabbing of 28-year-old Jario Hernandez-Sanchez. He was arraigned Sept. 4 in Troy City Court and charged with second-degree murder and first-degree assault. Steven Barker, Assistant Chief of Police, confirmed to News10 Corrales-Ramirez was also arrested earlier this year by U.S. Border Patrol in connection to a stabbing in Maryland. ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - A Crestwood man was recently convicted of mutilating and killing his neighbor's dog several years ago. John C. Ross III, 63, was found guilty of animal abuse and weapons charges in a bench trial Friday. Call for Help closure has East St. Louis mothers crying for aid According to charging documents, the dog was stabbed to death on Sept. 7, 2019, in the 9700 block of Greenview Drive.Investigators say the victim’s dog, Teddy, wandered onto Ross’ property. Ross walked over to Teddy, grabbed the dog by the scruff of the neck, and began stabbing him. The owner rushed Teddy to an animal hospital, but the dog had lost too much blood and had to be put down. LOS ANGELES — Steve Harwell, the longtime frontman of the Grammy-nominated pop rock band Smash Mouth that was behind the megahit “All Star” has died. He was 56.The band’s manager, Robert Hayes, said Harwell “passed peacefully and comfortably” Monday morning surrounded by family and friends at his home in Boise, Idaho. A man and woman sitting in a car in the Harbor City neighborhood of Los Angeles were killed when a gunman walked up to their vehicle and opened fire Monday night.The shooting was reported shortly after 6:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of 253rd Street, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson confirmed.
