South Broadway outdoor consignment shop gearing up for first ski season A south Broadway consignment shop is suiting up for its first full ski season. Charlie Fay opened Second Wind Sports in 3,000 square feet at 1901 S. Broadway in February, at the tail end of last year’s ski season. Now, with Colorado’s first ski areas weeks away from opening, Fay said he has hundreds of skis in stock. Fay said consignment shops are perfect for those that are new to outdoor sports or want to be environmentally friendly. And, especially for ski gear, it saves your wallet.“It comes to $2,500 at a normal ski shop versus $500 here,” Fay said of buying ski equipment. “More people can get more access to the outdoors.”Fay, born and raised in Cherry Hills Village, graduated from Santa Clara University in California at the beginning of the pandemic. Not quite ready to move back home, he found himself road tripping in the west when he stopped in Bozeman, Montana. “I liked being in a mountain town and skiing and hiking … and the people there in Bozeman are very nice,” Fay said. ...

Nuggets are scheming preseason bench offense around rookie Julian Strawther. As long as he keeps making shots, why stop in the real games?

Nuggets are scheming preseason bench offense around rookie Julian Strawther. As long as he keeps making shots, why stop in the real games? David Adelman knew nobody wanted double overtime in Chicago. “Like, absolutely nobody,” he admits. And still, down two with 0.6 seconds remaining in regulation last Thursday, instead of drawing up a play for a catch-and-shoot three, the Nuggets’ interim coach designed a lob to the rim that resulted in the highlight of Denver’s preseason.Braxton Key’s buzzer beater also resulted in the team not getting home until 3 a.m. that night. Adelman played for the tie because “I couldn’t help it,” he said. “I love that play.”That also seems to be his stance on creating shots for Julian Strawther right now.As Adelman walked out the door after his postgame press conference Sunday night at Ball Arena, he paused to issue an addendum. The Nuggets had just avenged their double-overtime loss in Chicago with a 116-102 win over the Bulls, thanks in part to Strawther’s increasingly astonishing offense. So Adelman wisecracked that Strawthe...

Colorado Supreme Court upholds controversial Google search warrant in deadly Green Valley Ranch arson case

Colorado Supreme Court upholds controversial Google search warrant in deadly Green Valley Ranch arson case The Colorado Supreme Court on Monday upheld a controversial search warrant that Denver police used to identify the teenagers accused of killing five people in a house fire three years ago, while also finding that Coloradans have a constitutionally-protected privacy interest in their Google search histories. The justices found in a 5-2 decision that Denver police acted in good faith when they used a “reverse keyword search warrant,” which required Google to turn over the account information for any users who searched particular keywords in a particular time frame. Denver police used that information from Google to identify the teenagers now accused of setting the fatal fire in Green Valley Ranch. The reverse keyword search warrant in this case might be legally flawed, but the evidence will still be allowed in court because police acted in good faith, the majority of justices found.“In reaching these conclusions, we make no broad proclamation about the propriety of rev...
