Published Wed, 12 Feb 2025 05:31:33 GMT

As the Orioles fought for an American League East title and the Triple-A Norfolk Tides similarly vied for a league crown, top prospect DL Hall was with neither ballclub. The left-hander, who debuted for Baltimore in 2022, instead spent six of his summer weeks in Florida at the team’s spring training facility to focus on strength training and rebuilding his velocity. He returned to Triple-A in late July, was called up to the Orioles in August and, on Saturday, turned in a strong relief performance in Game 1 of the American League Division Series. Despite Baltimore’s 3-2 loss to the Texas Rangers, Hall provided stability out of the bullpen, striking out three and not allowing a hit in 1 2/3 innings.“The ultimate goal was to get up here and be able to help these guys,” the 25-year-old Hall told The Baltimore Sun after the game. “It was a long road, obviously wish I could’ve been up here sooner, but it’s the end of the year and we got here...

Opinion: The time is now to trade Justin Fields

Published Wed, 12 Feb 2025 05:31:33 GMT

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields' stock has never been higher than it is right now, and if the Bears don't see him as the long-term answer under center, as the saying goes, it is best to strike (a deal) when the iron's hot.Fields is coming off his second straight four touchdown performance after Chicago dismantled the Washington Commanders, 40-20, in their own house Thursday night. Waking up Friday morning, Fields was tied for the NFL-lead in touchdown passes with fellow NFC North quarterback Kirk Cousins (11) and stood sixth overall in passing yards on the season (1,143) — ahead of folks like Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen and Justin Herbert in both categories.Quarterback play is king in today's NFL, and Fields' meteoric rise over the last two weeks puts the Bears in a precarious position, one where they are poised to trade, quite possibly, the first player in the history of their franchise that possesses multi-pro bowl caliber talent at the quarterback position.Chicago sports ...

A long-awaited review of the JonBenet Ramsey murder investigation by the Colorado Cold Case Review Team, with the cooperation of the Boulder Police Department, is set to take place before the year’s end.The decision to submit the case to outside review coincided with the reassignment of a detective who had long held primary responsibility for its investigation.Boulder police said Thursday that the November 2022 reassignment of Commander Thomas Trujillo had no connection to the Ramsey case. It did, however, generally coincide with the department’s agreement — just after Trujillo’s reassignment — to welcome greater involvement by other investigating agencies. Trujillo was assigned to the detective bureau at the time of JonBenet’s December 1996 murder. He was one of two lead detectives on the perplexing case throughout much of its duration. On Nov. 1, 2022, Trujillo was moved from the Investigations Unit to the Watch 3 Patrol after an internal probe into the Investigat...
