Guests visiting the Disneyland Resort in June won’t be able to enjoy several classic rides due to scheduled refurbishments.Beginning on June 5, Peter Pan’s Flight, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, Alice in Wonderland and The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Undersea Adventure will be closed. The resort hasn’t provided a specific reopening date for the rides.The Peter Pan’s Flight, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, and Alice in Wonderland are all located in Fantasyland in Disneyland. Authorities are investigating the fatal shooting of a man in front of King/Drew High School in Willowbrook early Tuesday.The shooting was reported around 5:30 a.m. in the 1600 block of East 120th Street.When deputies arrived around 8:30 a.m., they found the Black male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his head, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.He was pronounced dead at the scene.Sky5 footage showed the victim was found in a planter on campus, directly below a sign for the magnet school, which is part of the Los Angeles Unified School District.KTLA has reached out to LAUSD to learn if the shooting involved anyone connected to the school.No further information was released.Anyone with information was encouraged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. Mattel, Inc. has released a Barbie doll with Down syndrome in an effort to help more children find a toy that represents themselves. The doll is a part of this year's Barbie Fashionistas lineup. To ensure accuracy, the toymaker says it worked closely with the National Down Syndrome Society. The organization helped the brand sculpt the doll as well as provide guidance on accessories. The doll features a new face shape and body sculpt to be "more illustrative of women with Down syndrome," Mattel said in a news release. Hit-and-Run Collision in Boyle Heights Severed 13-Year-old Boy’s LegLOS ANGELES, CA (April 23, 2023) – Thursday afternoon, a hit-and-run crash in Boyle Heights left Joshua Mora severely injured.The collision happened on March 30th, at around 3:30 p.m., at the intersection of Whittier Boulevard and Orme Avenue.According to reports, a motorcyclist lost control of their vehicle and hit Mora at a crosswalk. However, the rider got back on his motorcycle after sliding approximately 80 feet and fled the scene.Responding medical personnel transported the boy to LAC + USC Medical Center for treatment. 30-Year-Old Killed in Pedestrian Crash near Hillview RoadYUCCA VALLEY, CA (April 25, 2023) – Early Sunday morning, Kevin Amstutz was involved in a fatal pedestrian crash on State Route 62.The incident occurred on April 16th, at around 5:00 a.m., on the eastbound lanes of State Route 62 just west of Hillview Road.According to reports, Amstutz was driving a Ford F-150 on 29 Palms Highway when he struck a pedestrian who was walking along the road. The impact left pedestrian with serious injuries.Medical personnel arrived shortly after and transported the 30-year-old pedestrian to Hi-Desert Medical Center. A large-scale police operation serving search warrants in seven alleged illegal underground casinos on April 20 — including six within San Jose city limits — yielded hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash, guns and illegal drugs, according to authorities.Working with numerous other agencies, including Santa Clara Police, the Department of Motor Vehicles and U.S. Postal Inspectors, San Jose police raided seven different underground casinos that they said acted as a conduit for illegal gambling and black market sales of drugs and stolen property.The locations of the casinos in San Jose were at the 2000 block of Whittington Drive, the 1000 block of Commercial Court, the 400 block of East Williams Street, the 200 block of Prairiewood Court, the 3000 block of Capewood Lane and the 1800 block of Harbor View Avenue.
