CENTRAL TEXAS (KXAN) -- Folks across Central Texas witnessed Tuesday the first of two supermoons that appearing in August. Tuesday's moon, called the "Sturgeon Moon," is one of four supermoons in 2023, according to NASA. A supermoon happens when a full moon coincides with the moon’s closest approach to Earth, making the moon appear 7% larger and up to 30% brighter.Enjoy viewer photos of the supermoon from across the KXAN viewing area in the gallery below. SAN MARCOS, Texas (KXAN) -- The City of San Marcos officially got rid of its juvenile curfew during a city council meeting Tuesday. This comes after the Texas Legislature passed a law doing away with curfews, which will go into effect next month. San Marcos city leaders told KXAN in June they stopped prioritizing enforcement of the curfew after the legislature's move. Minnesota United lost a second midfielder to a season-ending knee injury this season and will reportedly bring back a former midfielder.The Loons announced Thursday Kervin Arriaga suffered a torn meniscus in his right knee — similar to Robin Lod’s injury in May. United won’t be short-handed, however.The Athletic reported MNUFC traded with Nashville SC for Jan Gregus. Terms were not included.Gregus came to Minnesota as a Designated Player in 2019 and left after the 2021 season. He played 27 matches for San Jose Earthquakes in 2022. With Nashville, he has played only 223 minutes this season.Arriaga had missed training this week after playing in the Leagues Cup group-stage match against Chicago Fire last Thursday and will soon have surgery, the club said. TINMOUTH, Vt. (NEWS10) -- Vermont State Police are investigating a man who was found dead inside a car along VT RT 140 in Tinmouth, Vermont. Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies issued a “senior alert” early Thursday and were searching for a 73-year-old woman with cognitive impairment who went missing.The officials said Greta Muchuga last was seen wearing gray sweatpants and a t-shirt and that she “gets lost and confused easily.” They described her as a female, 5’4″ tall, weighing 125 pounds, with green eyes and brown hair. Muchuga’s vehicle — a silver 2009 Lexus RX350 sport utility vehicle, Colorado license plate 285-DFU — may have been spotted in Boulder and in Westminster near the intersection of 120th Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard, sheriff officials said in a posting on Twitter. A fatal rollover crash early Thursday forced road closures for several hours near South Tower Road and East Kansas Place in Aurora, authorities said.This single-vehicle crash happened around 2:41 a.m., according to an Aurora Police posting on Twitter.
