Colonie among first areas to test car emergency vehicle alerts COLONIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A few towns in our area including Colonie will be one of the first places in the nation to test pilot technology that alerts drivers to emergency response vehicles before they’re close by.  “I believe it's the wave of the future, and I'm glad we're at the forefront of it, said Colonie's Town Supervisor Peter Crummey. He explained that the developing technology would tap into the infotainment systems of cars to provide the notifications. Crummey was revved up for the $2.4 Million dollar grant, funded by the US Department of Transportation’s 'Safe Streets for All' Program. Colonie coordinated with Guilderland and Clifton Park, proving there is strength in numbers. “The proposal was so significant that rather than a couple hundred thousand dollars, which was the wish, actually combining our efforts with some municipalities got us $2.4 million” Crummey explained. Total Access Urgent Care to pay $9.1 million settlement over false claims allegations ST. LOUIS (AP) — One of the largest urgent care chains in Missouri will pay $9.1 million to settle allegations that the company submitted false claims for medical services, including COVID-19 testing.The U.S. Attorney's Office in St. Louis on Thursday announced the settlement with Total Access Urgent Care, which operates more than two dozen clinics in the St. Louis area.“This settlement will fully repay three federal health care programs for TAUC's overbilling for COVID tests and office visits,” U.S. Attorney Sayler A. Fleming said in a news release.Federal prosecutors said Total Access Urgent Care submitted false insurance claims for COVID-19 testing between April 2021 and December 2021, using improper billing codes that resulted in the company getting reimbursements at a rate that was too high.From 2017 to 2021, TAUC was accused of falsely claiming that doctors participated in some office visits that were actually overseen by non-physician practitioners. 7-Eleven closing decade-old store near East High A 7-Eleven convenience store that has operated for more than a decade near East High School is closing.Merchandise at the 2341 E. Colfax Ave. store is 50% off, with the exception of lottery tickets and tobacco products, according to signs posted outside the store.The store at the corner of Colfax and Josephine opened in 2011. Its building was erected specifically for 7-Eleven.The property is owned by Denver-based Kentro Group. Kentro executive Jimmy Balafas said 7-Eleven corporate, which owns the store, sent him a letter about the closure but didn’t explain the reason for it.Balafas said 7-Eleven’s lease for the property extends another couple years.
